5 tips for natural wedding photos

MOST COUPLES I WORK WITH TELL ME THE SAME THING —

“WE’RE NOT VERY GOOD IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA.”

And honestly, that’s completely normal.

You don’t need to be confident or know what you’re doing in front of the camera to have beautiful photos. The best images tend to come from moments that feel natural, not staged. Even during your couple session, I use 'prompts' rather than 'poses' to create a more relaxed environment, and ensure we get photos that reflect you & your partners personalities.

Here are a few simple things that make a real difference on the day.

DON’T RUSH YOUR TIMELINE

A relaxed timeline changes everything. When the day feels calm, you have space to actually be present with each other — and that’s when the most natural moments happen. Even just allowing an extra 10–15 minutes here and there can make things feel less pressured.

STAY CLOSE TO EACH OTHER

It sounds obvious, but it works.  Walking together, holding hands, leaning in — small, natural movements photograph beautifully without needing to 'pose'. You don’t need to be doing anything special, just being close is enough.

FOCUS ON EACH OTHER, NOT THE CAMERA

You don’t need to perform.  Some of the best moments happen when you’re mid-conversation, laughing, or just taking it all in. I’ll guide you when needed, but a lot of the time I step back and simply observe what’s already there.

TRUST THE QUIET MOMENTS

Not everything needs to be big or dramatic.  The way you look at each other, a hand squeeze, a breath before walking down the aisle — those quieter moments often end up being the most meaningful.

LET THINGS UNFOLD NATURALLY

The best photos aren’t forced.  If something runs slightly off plan, that’s okay. Some of the most genuine, memorable moments happen in between — when you’re not thinking about the camera at all.

LET YOUR COUPLES SESSION FEEL EASY

This part of the day isn’t about posing perfectly.  Think of it as a few quiet minutes together — walking, talking, and taking everything in. I’ll guide you gently, but nothing will feel forced.

You don’t need to change who you are to have beautiful wedding photos.

The goal isn’t to create something overly posed or perfect — it’s to capture the day as it actually felt, in a way that still feels timeless years from now.
